Last week, the first new developed SmartSolutions PLASMA received the delivery approval from the customer - new was also the organization of the delivery release run. Since the customer is located in the USA, COVID-19 made it impossible for a project team to be on site in Rheinböllen as usual. Instead, the test run took place with the help of a live video stream via online meeting. Product Manager Peter Faulhaber and a software developer from the SmartSolutions team demonstrated all the functions of the machine, as well as safety precautions such as the security camera in the loading area, so that at the end of the meeting the customer could approve the delivery release.
The SmartSolutions PLASMA enables the treatment of medical syringes with a plasma flame, which causes a surface activation inside the syringes. This process in SmartSolutions is the basis for the next process step, in which the inside of the syringes is coated with a silicone oil in a special machine manufactured by HAHN Automation to optimize the sliding of the piston, which will be added later.
Loading and operating the SmartSolutions PLASMA is just as easy as handling the other SmartSolutions machines in the product series: after the syringes have been manually inserted into the article fixture, it is placed on the X,Y-cross table and automatically locked. With the help of the integrated live camera, the positions of the syringes can then be set using a tablet. The process for plasma activation is then "programmed" using the software innovation SIA. To do this, the plasma nozzle must be immersed in the syringes and remain there for a defined time, which can be specified by the customer.
For this process, the software SIA has been upgraded with additional functions to make the handling as easy and comfortable as possible for the operator. The new functions enable a greater variance in processing options and there is now a copy function to transfer parameters from one syringe position to all other positions, so that the process only has to be set up once.
All new functions that can be applied to other machines from the SmartSolutions product portfolio are also transferred to their software standard in order to make the best possible use of development synergies and to provide customers with the latest software for their SmartSolutions machines.
